What it costs to hire a Christmas tree decorator in Boise

Our 2026 prices, how decorators charge, and what moves the number.

A tall, fully decorated Christmas tree glowing in a dark living room

A professionally decorated tree with décor you already own starts at $450 for a tree up to 9 feet. When the decorator supplies the ornaments and ribbon, plan on $1,195 to $2,500 or more. Takedown adds $250 to $350, depending on the tree.

Hourly or flat pricing

You’ll see both. Some home-service and organizing companies bill by the hour, per person, with a minimum. At $65 an hour, two people for four hours is $520 before any décor, and the bill grows if the tree takes longer.

We price per tree instead. Shaping a tall artificial tree properly can take an hour on its own, and we’d rather spend that hour than watch the clock. You know the number before we arrive.

What changes the price

  • Height. Every extra foot means more branches to shape, more lights, more ribbon and more ornaments.
  • Who supplies the décor. The biggest single factor. Sourcing 150+ ornaments and 100 feet or more of ribbon is a real cost before anyone hangs a thing.
  • Ribbon work. Full cascades with layered ribbon take far longer than a few swags.
  • Lights. Re-lighting a tree properly, or working around a pre-lit tree with dead sections, adds time.
  • Number of trees. A second tree in the same palette is usually more efficient than a separate visit.
  • Takedown. Careful packing, sorting and labeling is its own job, and it’s worth it next November.

With the Signature and Grand Trim, the décor is yours to keep. That changes the math in year two: the same tree can go back up with an Essential Trim, at $450 for a tree up to 9 feet.

How to spend less

  1. Use what you have. Shaping, lighting and ribbon do more for a tree than a cart of new ornaments.
  2. Buy large ornaments first. If you add anything, add the large statement pieces most collections are missing. See our ornament guide.
  3. Choose the height on purpose. A 7.5-foot tree in an average room often looks better than a crowded 9-foot one, and it needs less décor.
  4. Put the budget where everyone gathers. The main tree matters more than a second or third one.
